Fairisle colour patterns are well known in the knitting world. They can be beautifully intricate or simple, modern designs. This course covers all you need to know to work this lovely technique and add some colour into your knitting.
Techniques covered include:
- How Fairisle knitting works with two colours
- Methods of holding yarns
- Keeping the wrong side & edges neat
- Trapping long ‘floats’
- Reading fairisle patterns & charts
- Traditional fairisle patterns
- Modern fairisle patterns
You will work on samples during the class which will enable you to practice all the techniques covered in the workshop. Charts will be provided for various traditional and modern fairisle patterns.
You will need to bring a pair of 4mm needles and 2 colours of DK yarn.
You will also need to bring or purchase a packed lunch. We will provide refreshments (plenty of cake!) throughout the day.
Your tutor for this class will be Carol Ibbetson. Carol works with many of the big publishers as a technical editor and pattern grader for knitting and crochet books. She is also a designer in her own right with a passion for sharing her skills.
