Double knitting is a fantastic technique for creating a double-layered, reversible patterned, squishy fabric with no unsightly wrong side and no stranding of yarn. Great for pot holders, scarves, bags and many more items.
Techniques covered include:
- How Double Knitting works
- Using one or two colours
- Creating reversible colour patterns
- Basic methods of casting on and off
- How to keep edges neat
- ‘Invisible’ cast-on and cast-off method
- Reading double knitting patterns
The class includes a pattern for a reversible two colour patterned pot holder which can be started during the class and you will then have all the skills to complete it at home.
You will need to bring a pair of 4mm needles, 2 colours of DK yarn and a blunt ended sewing up needle. You will also need to bring or purchase a packed lunch. We will provide refreshments (plenty of cake!) throughout the day.
Your tutor for this class will be Carol Ibbetson. Carol works with many of the big publishers as a technical editor and pattern grader for knitting and crochet books. She is also a designer in her own right with a passion for sharing her skills.
