Professional Finishing Techniques
How a garment is put together can make a huge difference to the overall finished look of it. Just because your garment is hand-made, it doesn’t mean that is how it has to look!
This workshop will look at the techniques needed to help give your garment that professional finish. For example, sewing pieces together, buttonholes and picking up stitches are just a few of the techniques worked during the course.
As you will also see throughout the day, it is not just what is done to the pieces of knitting after they are knitted, there are lots of things that can be done along the way that will also help to achieve a more professional look.
You will need to bring the following:
- 3 x 4 mm needles (1 pair + an extra 4mm needle)
- 3 x pre-knitted squares (approximately 10 cm squared, in Stocking Stitch using Dk yarn with 4 mm needles)
- 1 x ball of Dk yarn to use on the day
You will also need to bring or purchase a packed lunch. We will provide refreshments (plenty of cake!) throughout the day.
Your tutor for this class will be Sara Thornett. Sara has a Masters degree in Fashion and Knitwear. She is a published designer with patterns in books and online. Sara is a very experienced tutor and works nationwide as part of the Rowan Workshop Team.
