I am a huge fan of fabric and the collection available at Stitch Solihull reflects that. We stock a wide range of 100% cotton fabrics from child friendly novelties to sophisticated dress making choices. Perfect for your next project or just adding to the stash and stroking occasionally! Keep an eye on our blog for a review of new ranges as they arrive.
Our main fabric supplier is Makower, a UK company based in Henley on Thames who specialise in premium 100% cotton patchwork and quilting fabrics.
The range includes a good selection of basics such as solids, polka dots and ginghams. These are backed up with themed collections released every couple of months.
The collections include striking geometrics, fun novelties and pretty florals. Plus there’s always a fantastic festive edition that include panels for creating your own advent calendar. Many of the collections are supported by a quilt or home decor pattern which can be downloaded for free from the Makower website.
Not just for patchwork, many of the prints would also work well in other projects such as bags and even garments.
Westfalenstoffe are a German company who produce a range of fabrics on a variety of bases. We stock a small selection of their 100% cotton 60” wide fabrics.
The fabrics are all certified to Öko-Tex100 standard which is essential if you are making things for children to sell that need to be CE tested.
Their quirky children’s fabrics use bright eye catching blocks of colour and would be great for decorating a nursery. Or how about stitching up an adorable shirt or pair of dungarees?
Timeless Treasures are a family owned American fabric company specialising in 100% cotton fabrics primarily for quilters.
Many of their designs are interesting novelties including woodland creatures and knitting sheep, perfect for project bags. They also have some more sophisticated designs that would be as perfect for an evening dress as a sumptuous quilt.
Peter Horton Textiles
Our final fabric selection comes from Peter Horton Textiles. These are 100% cotton lawn fabric that are 54” wide. This is the same base cloth as the famous Liberty Tana Lawn.
These lightweight and buttery soft fabrics come in both modern bright and more traditional floral designs and would be perfect for stitching a summer dress or top.
