The 9th Annual Woolly Wormhead Mystery Hat-a-Long kicks off on Tuesday 1st November, that’s next week! If you aren’t familiar with Woolly Wormhead, she is is a hat architect and designer extrodinaire. Her hat patterns are individual works of art with styles to suit everyone whether you think you suit hats or not.
The Hat-a-Long is a mystery knit along released in three instalments on November 1st, 9th and 17th. There are three hat styes to choose from - a beret, a beanie and a slouchy so whatever style of hat you like, you can join in. Beyond that, it’s a secret! I have no idea what the final hat will look like but I do know that it will be fantastic.
One of the recommended yarns for this years event is the gorgeous Fyberspates Vivacious DK, a personal favourite of mine. All the hat styles in all sizes are designed to use 1 skein or less. With so many colours to choose from, it’s tempting to make 1 of each. The yarn is £17/115g skein and will make a lovely, cosy hat perfect for winter.
The patterns are available to buy in store, on Ravelry (beanie/slouchy, beret) or on Woolly’s website and are priced at £3.50 each or £5 for both. You will receive email updates when the new clues are published. If you buy your pattern in store, you will also be able to pick up a printed version of each clue when it is released.
You will also need a set of 3.75mm DPNs or an appropriate circular needle. We have these available in wood and metal and can offer advice on the best needles for you. We will also be able to offer help if you get stuck!
So who wants to join in? It should be great fun and we’d love to have you on board.
